Every time El-Zamalek plays, you’d spam my facebook wall with your cheers. You never skipped a birthday party, and you always show up on time with no gifts “Howa mesh kefaya enek shofteni?-Isn’t it enough that you saw me?” you’d casually say as you smile at me. I…
As I am writing this letter, Egypt is being cut from the world. The Mubarak regime is digging its own grave by blocking most types of communications in Egypt. The article “Egypt’s youth at forefront of ‘people power’ movement published on Jan 28 does not mention this information. Hosni Mubarak is punishing 80 millions Egyptians, because they want him out, they demand freedom, social justice, better standard of living.
In Friday’s marches all participating Egyptians will be in danger, they will be isolated from the outside world, we as activists can not warn them if police forces will attack them. We can not get any news or information from the streets, Hosni Mubarak and the Egyptian government are imitating what Zine Abidine did in Tunisia earlier this month. Even Iran did not block the Internet during the opposition protest after the recent election.
The idea of a massacre against the demonstrators is very realistic, police forces and special forces have no shame firing ‘live’ and rubber bullets on civilians demanding basic needs. Who will be hold accountable if there is a technological black-hole today in Cairo, Alexandria or Suez. Canada as a ‘middle power’ should help the Egyptians in their goal to see a democratic Egyptian state.

Closing my eyes, trying to imagine you for a while, for one short period of time where you will lay next to me. Allowing my hands to brush those flawing strands of hair, inhaling the unmistakable scent of Aliens finely dabbed on your neck and behind your ears. Embrace you for a few more minutes to warm my soul and then I’d let you vanish… like the mirage.
